Week 1:

Tonight we had two activities.

Firstly members were set the challenge to build a bridge across a table that could withstand the most weight….. some girls tried the folding into a fan technique, which worked for smaller loads but collapsed under larger ones. Others decided to roll their paper into tubes. This was the most effective method and could withstand the largest of loads.

Next members made magnetic slime……YUK! The challenge was to decide which grain of metal was the most effective in making the slime magnetic. They had powdered iron oxide, fine iron filings or large iron grains. The most effective magnetic slime consisted of the iron oxide powder!!
